Sandblaster, Oh how I love thee. . .

I got my blast cabinet and have started cleaning up some of the smaller parts, like the battery box:
Is it wrong to love sandblasting? If it is then i don't want to be right.

There is just something so satisfying about resurfaceing an ugly, rusty, paint peeling, piece of crap.

And for the big stuff that doesn't fit in the cabinet you get to wear nifty outfits.
Maybe this is why the neighbors keep their distance? Or maybe it's the sledgehammer? (GEOTHOR IV)

I plugged the holes in the petcock with a dab of hot-glue gun glue. I sealed the gast cap hole by adhereing a tube of duct tape to the inside of the hole. Then I twisted it around on itself, making sure there weren't any gaps. As grandpa would say, it worked "slicker than snot on a door knob".

Gauges

Here are the re-vamped gauges. I am pretty proud of how they turned out. I opened them up cleaned them inside and out and lubed all the gears. I scanned the face plates into adobe illustrator and redrew them how I wanted. Then I printed them onto special super long lasting fade resistant paper. It took me a few tries to get them just the right size. I punched out the holes with a couple of different sized hole punches to get nice clean edges. I glued the finished product onto the old face plates with a spray on glue. Then all I had to do was reassemble using a dab of JB weld to hold the casing together where I had to cut it open.

This is what the gauges looked like before.

I have finished the diassembly on the rest of the bike and have to wait for my blast cabinet to arrive before I can do anything more. I have the whole bike in a small pile on my garage floor.
